The Christmas Tree # 1

December 11, 2020

Over the years many Christmas trees come and gone.

We have had those that when you shake the tree πŸŽ„ the needles fall off and cover the gifts underneath. You have to remember the ones where when you touch them they bite and you bleed.

Then as a kid, it was not much fun decorating the tree. It always takes longer than someone thought it should. Getting a little grumpy someone would the shining tinsel and toss it on the tree by then hand full. It looked like hell but to us kids, it was the most beautiful tree around.

When we were supposed to be sleeping with sugar plums dancing in our heads. We were sneaking down the hall and peaking from behind the folding door at Santa and his elf wrapping packages in the early morning.

After they left we went into the living room. Gazing in wonder at all of the neatly wrapped gifts.

Dad said, Get back in bed NOW! What a bummer. Later we were allowed to get up and open the packages. It was so much fun playing with the boxes.

But the one Tree that I remember most is the ultra-modern aluminum tree with the color wheel. It was even before disco.

No mess, no smell, just stick the branches into the wooden pull and turn on the light.

For years we had that darn tree.

Maybe I should tell you about the Christmas tree that I borrowed for Christmas.
